This sequence is completely malleable and changeable. Feel free to add any stance or standing pose. Those can be found in the standing meditation section. Each posture is also a link to a description with alignment points, other variations and viewing angles.
This sequence is short set of movements is a sequence called Sura Namaskara, Sun Salutation. Most Yoga sequences start with this. It is also a good warm up for a sequence but also for a quick Yoga routine usually for the morning. Hence the name sun salutation. Saluting the rising sun and giving thanks to another day.
The sequence above if a very simple and classic version. In the next set I like to work in some variations to prepare the practitioner for more advanced poses and stretching deeper into each of the poses above. Also take note to move through the sun salutation twice to work both sides of the body.
For this second set (above) you can work in the upward & downward dog with cobra and chaturanga if you like. This set is also a good time to work in some standing postures and stances. Such as the warrior(s), triangle, tree or even some shoulder stretches.
This next set goes deep into opening the hips. Feel free to take your time and really relax into these if you have the time.
Repeat as desired
